Call Me Sam!

Hi, my name is Samantha, but you can call me Sam.  I had an ear tumor when I was four which led to a learning disability resulting in poor cognitive learning skills throughout elementary, middle school, high school and college.  To this day I still have poor cognitive skills from age 4 but it got more challenging for me in 2012 when I was rollerblading I fell and hit my head, because of this I broke my neck and had a seizure.  I was in the hospital and put in an induced coma.  After coming out of it I returned home and started a lot of speech, occupational and physical therapy including the CTN program with a neuropsychologist/psychiatrist.

To this day I recovered my strength in walking and talking, but I still struggle with my cognitive thinking skills and can’t drive because of it.

Going to We’re Moving Forward events was brought up at CTN and I’m glad I did because I’m around a group of people that understand where I come from and I had the chance to make friends that I never truly had because I was always judged due to my disability.
